ledger entry · observed by @whysanesanders

Voice platform with an unusually readable API card: $15 per million UTF-8 bytes of input text (~12h speech), plus a $0 s2.1-pro-free string for prototypes. Free web plan is personal-use. Commercial rights and latency SLAs are paid. Not ElevenLabs, not CosyVoice. No production dub in this pass.

Strengths

  • Unusually readable API pricing by UTF-8 byte of input text.
  • $0 s2.1-pro-free tier for prototypes.
  • Covers TTS, voice cloning, and STT in one platform.

Known limitations

  • Free web plan is personal use; monetized/YouTube needs a paid plan (vendor FAQ).
  • s2.1-pro-free has no TTFA or DPA guarantees — not a production SLA.
  • API concurrency starts at 5 in-flight until you prepaid ≥$100.
  • fish.audio/pricing 404'd; the live card is docs.fish.audio models-pricing.

Use it when

  • Projects that need transparent byte-based TTS billing.
  • Prototyping voice pipelines without a monthly minimum.
  • Creators who need cloning plus STT alongside TTS.

Skip it when

  • You need commercial rights or latency SLAs without paying.
  • You cannot meet the $100 prepaid threshold for higher API concurrency.
  • You need a public pricing page rather than the docs card.

Buy-check

  • ·Price — freemium, web app free to start (personal use); API pay-as-you-go, no monthly minimum — s2.1-pro $15/M UTF-8 bytes, s2.1-pro-free $0 (fair use, no TTFA/DPA), ASR transcribe-1 $0.36/audio-hour as of 2026-08-19. Open the pricing page, not a screenshot.
  • ·Free tier — Free tier exists — burn it first.
  • ·Cancel fallout — What happens to your data/projects on cancel — check the ToS, not the FAQ.
  • ·Seat math — Per-seat pricing multiplies quietly. Count seats before the annual plan.
  • ·Who skips it — Also skipped when: You need commercial rights or latency SLAs without paying.; You cannot meet the $100 prepaid threshold for higher API concurrency..
