ledger entry · observed by @whysanesanders

The sandbox other agent products quietly run on. Hobby is usage plus a one-time $100 credit pile; Pro is $150 plus the same per-second meters. You still write the agent. Not Browser Use (that's a browser); this is a VM. No production agent parked here.

Strengths

  • Isolated Firecracker VM sandboxes billed per second of CPU/RAM.
  • Generous Hobby tier with $100 one-time credits and 20 concurrent sessions.
  • The runtime several agent products quietly rely on.

Known limitations

  • Seat fee and usage are separate; idle sandboxes still tick CPU/RAM.
  • Hobby session cap is 1 hour; long jobs need Pro.
  • Self-host of the commercial control plane is not the public SKU.
  • Concurrency above 100 is a Pro extra purchase, not included.

Use it when

  • Running untrusted agent code in isolated cloud VMs.
  • Prototyping agents that need a real Linux environment, not a browser.

Skip it when

  • You need sessions longer than the 1-hour Hobby cap without paying Pro.
  • The budget cannot cover both seat fee and per-second usage.
  • You want to self-host the commercial control plane.

Buy-check

  • ·Price — freemium, Hobby $0 + usage (one-time $100 credits, 1h sessions, 20 concurrent); Pro $150/mo + usage (24h sessions, 100 concurrent); default 2 vCPU $0.000028/s as of 2026-08-19. Open the pricing page, not a screenshot.
  • ·Free tier — Free tier exists — burn it first.
  • ·Cancel fallout — What happens to your data/projects on cancel — check the ToS, not the FAQ.
  • ·Seat math — Per-seat pricing multiplies quietly. Count seats before the annual plan.
  • ·Who skips it — Also skipped when: You need sessions longer than the 1-hour Hobby cap without paying Pro.; The budget cannot cover both seat fee and per-second usage..
